I started making this Family Recipe Book in October 2020.  I wanted to have something to give to my children as they began their life of independence.  I didn’t know how much we would use it every day.

As I started looking at options of how to format and print the book, three things happened.

  1. My son was looking for a recipe in a “Baking for Teens” book and said, “I can never find anything in this book.  It doesn’t have any tabs.”  He put the book away and began flipping through our Family Recipe Book going straight for the “Holiday Treats” tab.
  2. I noticed that there were multiple times where simultaneously I would have different children working on different recipes at different counters.  This was only possible because they could take pages directly out of the 3 Ring Binder to use on their own.
  3. Even this morning, I picked up a mixing bowl off of a recipe page in the binder.  The bowl had left water on the page, but because it was in a protective sleeve, I just wiped off the liquid and some dried white chocolate that had also been splattered on the recipe.

I realized that the most useful book format for my children actually USING this Family Recipe Book was how we had been doing it all along. That would be in a 3 Ring Binder with protective sleeves and divider tabs.

This made me think about the people who have asked me how they can purchase the book.  From experience, I know it’s tedious to go through each Recipe Page on my blog, click on the picture, download the recipe and print and organize it all into a binder: even if it is free.  After praying about it, I have decided that the best option is to format it into a PDF file in it’s complete form and make it available as an E-book that you can have printed if you desire.

Also, if people find a typo or I make an update, it is easy for me to edit it and send a new copy to buyers as they request.

I would ask that you don’t just share the PDF file with everyone.  It really did take a LOT of work to make this.

Lastly, I am adding affiliate links for the 3 Ring Binder materials that I personally use, as well as a link to the Family Recipe Book download page.  Happy Cooking!
